Weekend at the Apartment

P942
Was done with the on call yesterday, but even though I had a relatively easy night, I was not able to get much sleep. I was coughing my lungs out all night and my reflux was really playing. No help from the biryani curry I had for dinner, as well as the cold rather than hot drinks I had before heading for bed. Learnt my lesson.

I therefore got up a bit later than usual, but since the drive into work was only 20 minutes, I still got in early enough to finish my rounds before seeing the first patient in the clinic. Rather than heading back to Gombak after work, I headed to Bangsar instead to buy dinner, and then wait at the apartment for Puan Anita and the boys to join me there for the weekend.

The boys were excited of course, now that we managed to decorate their room, complete with their bunk beds. Idlan went for the top of course. The bonus for Irfan was he had a rack of books next to his pillow where he could keep his stuffs. He spent the evening decorating the room his way. He asked us to get him some night lamp, so we might have to do some shopping tomorrow …..

Wedding at Nilai

P913
The first order of the day was to Nilai. My cousin, Shari, finally got hitched and we attended the reception there. We left as scheduled, at around 10.30 after my morning rounds, and reached the venue about an hour earlier, relatively early. After mingling around, and enjoying a splendid lunch - the food was actually very good - the happy couple arrived, in white. Quite rare these days to have Malay wedding with a white theme. But white it was.

Most of the family members from Penang made their way down here. My Dad was due to sit on the high table, but when the couple arrived, all hell broke lose, and Dad ended up having dinner at hour table instead. An hour after we finished eating. To accompany him, I went for seconds …..

After we were done with the food and met all the extended family members, it was time to go. As I mentioned, we would be spending the night at A Famosa, before driving further down to Muar tomorrow.

Packing next ….

P346
Finally done with the clinic and looking forward for the weekend trip. Flight would be early tomorrow morning, leaving the house by 7.30. Or at least that was the plan.

Last year, when the iPad 2 was announced, I was on my way to Myanmar, and learning the fact of the device on the TV screen at KL Sentral. It looked like it was going to be the same again. All the details on iPad 3 or HD or whatever they were going to call it at KL Sentral again.

So, I would be off home soon. Anita had already started with the packing. My job would be to get all the electronics and cameras sorted out as they would be travelling by road. Hmmm! It looks gloomy outside though ….

Hollywood and Exit

Finally we reached the exit. But before we left, we stopped for tea at one of the cafe there with a big sign saying HALAL up front. Time for some sandwich. And proper meat!

While we were waiting, the park characters started to file in. Marilyn Monroe. Some Elvira-type character - which turned out to be a man in drag. And finally, KUNG FU PANDA!

Of course I got my photos taken - with the panda not Marilyn as the queue was too long. We were also entertained by a Beach Boy type sing-a-long at one of the stage.

More shopping and chilling. Before we knew it, the boys were already tired. We finally made our way to the taxi stand just before 5. Just enough time to avoid the evening traffic ……

Right outside, there was still time for more photos though. A nice day out indeed.

Egypt!

[[posterous-content:pid___0]]UniverAfter the Scifi area, it was Egypt. A huge indoor complex, with an indoor roller coaster, reputed to be the scariest. I wouldn’t know because we did not step in. Instead, we lingered at the entrance and took another ride. It was an outdoor one, akin to the journey of Indiana Jones. A journey in a car, into caves and tunnels, with creepy crawly aplenty.

Nothing to shout about really, except that the queue was long, and the ride was short. Luckily with our express passes, we did not have to queue. We were led straight onto the car at the front of the queue. Well worth it.

While there, we came across the Queen of Sheeba and a Prince. Tough looking guy, and rather popular with the ladies. I didn’t understand why ….

Because the day was hot and the walk was long, Anita decided to have a change of footwear, and we also got a fan for each of the boys. It was filled with ice cold water which they spray onto their face.

After a quick drink, it was time to move on. The Lost World beckoned ……

New York!

The first area you enter when you get into the Universal Studios is appropriately called Hollywood. We shall leave that for the last entry as that was the exit as well. We decided to take a clockwise turn, and the first stop would be New York.

There were mainly cafes here and cinemas. Cinemas with live and movie shows. Not much in the way of rides, but there were sing-along in the afternoons as well as the main site for the parade. We did not stay until the evening, so missed that.

There were authentic memorabilia here, with diners, true to the American ambiance. You can’t help but to wonder if the mob would get you round the next corner. Gift shops aplenty, and it was a nice place to sit down for a coffee and plan for the day.

We decided to breeze through here as the boys were excited about Egypt and the Lost World.

The next area was the Sci-Fi. The main attraction here was Transformers ride. Unfortunately, Anita was not keen as she is prone to vertigo. That was a shame, as I was really looking forward to this one. It was endorsed by the movie director as well and it was opened to much fanfare last year. If you get to the park, make sure you queue up for this one. I am sure it would be worth it.

Instead, we took the “Accelerator”. Mainly we were sat in a cup and flung across the platform. Kid’s tolerated that one OK. Next stop …. Egypt!

Friday Night Outing

P563
As usual, we would have an outing on Friday night. Even though I have to work tomorrow. But at least, I won’t be on call.

We headed to The Curve, and the place was crowded despite there being a light drizzle outside. It ha been raining in the late afternoon, but that didn’t deter people coming in.

Where to have dinner? Irfan wanted Bubba Gump. Idlan wanted Marche. Mum and Dad wanted Apartments. Irfan won. And Bubba Gump was right crowded tonight with a couple of parties going on.

We shall have the customary stroll after dinner. Maybe a quick walk into IKEA perhaps. The boys wont be impressed. As for now, it was time to watch Forrest Gump on the television. That’s all they showed in here.

Chubby Boy

Chilling out while watching Ben 10 was Idlan’s idea of relaxing. And on this Sunday afternoon, that was exactly what he did. And I’m sure he put on weight in the last week that he had been at home. All he did was eat, play and sleep. Chubby boy!

Hello July on Flickr.

Suffice to say that there would be plenty of changes in my personal life in my personal life, details which would become apparent over time. Things were kind of hectic with bettongs my life sorted out in preparation for that big event. In the meantime, July would also be busy on the family and social front as well. There would be wedding, photoshoots, Urbanscapes and school holidays for my children, all in time to celebrate the coming of Ramadhan in August.

I was yet to decide on where to head for the holidays. I have a whole week before Ramadhan to celebrate with the boys. The would be a birthday party for one of Idlan’s classmate this weekend, and it would be at a movie theatre, showing Transformers. The weekend after that would be a wedding and a talk - which would be on my birthday. The weekend after that would be Urbanscapes, and the UMMC Haematology Update following suit in the 23rd. There would be no rest for the wicked I supposed. At least all my weekends have already been set!
