Kampachi at Pavilion KL

The owner of Sushi Express at Great Eastern Mall told us once that his usual sushi place is Kampachi. They had a couple of restaurants, the flagship being at Equatorial. Last weekend, we decided to give its sister restaurant at Pavilion a try.

To be honest, we were disappointed. Not only that the price there seemed double to what we would have expected to pay, the quality was not that good either. The place was quite OK and the food were presented well enough, but that did not compensate for the high price.

We tried their wagyu beef, as well as some rice dishes. It was just OK. Nothing spectacular. The children’s meal was rather unique however, presented in cosy little containers. The boys has some chicken teriyaki. They did not complain so, it should be fine taste-wise.

Would I be coming back? Don’t think so, but I am willing to give the main branch at Equatorial Hotel a try. I prefer my wage somewhere else anyhow.

More Pavilion Christmas

It has long become customary for us to venture out on the the evenings on the eve of holidays. Yesterday evening was no exception although Irfan decided to stay at home. He went out for lunch with Anita and the family, so he was a bit tired. Idlan came with us. We went to Pavilion for dinner. The initial plan was to catch a movie, but nothing really caught our fancy. Instead, we explored the much touted Christmas decor up there. It has been up for the last couple of weeks. In fact I ventured there once and took some pictures, although the complete repertoire were not erected yet.

There were mainly a couple of places worth visiting there. Let’s start with the main foyer. It was transformed into raws of small stalls, themed around Christmas. Rather going for the winter grotto look a la 1Utama - which I will blog later - they went for a more green outlook with tall Christmas trees, adorned with ornaments and lights. The stalls were nothing special compared to the ones in 1Utama, but the spirit was there. The main stage was still quite empty. Apparently, in the coming weeks, there will be a small grotto, with Santa making an appearance.

The second place to head to would be the Bukit Bintang entrance. It was filled with fake snow and there were Christmas trees, complete with icicles. The main fountain was also decorated with Christmas themes. Since we were early, we missed what was supposed to be ‘snowfall’ at 8 pm. We didn’t stay for too long as Irfan was at home, but the decors themselves were worth a visit. I should’ve taken a video of the place to be honest.

Oh! So posh!

Brought the boys to Pavilion yesterday, since I had to hop round the corner to sort my credit card payment. Thought I would take my camera along to see what the decor was like there. Suffice to say I was disappointed. There was hardly anything, apart from a few decorated trees here and there. THere were not much in the way of Merdeka celebration either. Put it this way, the Ipoh Municipal would have closed the shopping centre if it were located in Ipoh - they insisted on all shops there displaying the National Flag - Jalur Gemilang - at the front of their establishment.

On the way back, I noticed that somebody just stacked away an empty box of iPad at one of the rubbish bins. A quick look around for cameras to make sure it was not a candid camera prank, I took the snap. Oh! So posh!
