Off to the Concert
Early start today. Straight off for ward round, and back to the apartment by 8.30, waiting for the boys to get ready. We were off again by 9.30. The concert today was at the same venue as the last couple of years, at the HGH Convention Hall in Sentul. It was easy to get to the place but parking was a pain. We were lucky that we managed to get a spot opposite the gall, but the worry was, we may...

Groceries Time
The weekend has arrived and it would be a busy one. It would be the start of school holidays and as expected, the town was packed. So was the truck road leading out KL. The boys would still be in school though but Monday would be off since tomorrow would be he school concert. We would be at the apartment from this evening, so, a quick stop for groceries at Bangsar Village, followed by a quick...

Post Call
Finally I managed to have some shut eye after a hectic night on call. The call started out well enough but the five admissions after midnight did it for me. Went back to the apartment at around 3, and my sleep then was interrupted a few times. I woke up groggily this morning, did my ward rounds, finished my clinic and after lunch, I decided to have a doze in the Doctor’s mess. Success!...

The Code is Broken
So, as expected, I had been watching some quality television tonight while my boys spent the evening at their room. Suffice to say that in the last hour, they had managed to create such mess. Left to my own devices, I flipped through the TV channel, and stumbled into this. “Breaking the Magician’s Code”. This must have been the fifth time I had watched this. But it remained...

Weekend at the Apartment
Was done with the on call yesterday, but even though I had a relatively easy night, I was not able to get much sleep. I was coughing my lungs out all night and my reflux was really playing. No help from the biryani curry I had for dinner, as well as the cold rather than hot drinks I had before heading for bed. Learnt my lesson. I therefore got up a bit later than usual, but since the drive into...

The Swings of Things
Yes, I was more less back to my groove yesterday. Sorted out my rounds and clinics, plus at the end of that, took the boys out for dinner since Idlan just finished his assessment. A bit tiring towards the end of the day, but it was more due to the driving rather than the actual workload. Woke up this morning a bit later than usual. The whole household did. I decided that I would be better off...

The Day Off
The coughing returned with a vengeance late last night. It wasn’t helped by the fact that I was watching Downton Abbey until last midnight. In the end, I managed some sleep, but it could’ve been better. But I felt much better this morning. The sore throat definitely was gone. Wow! The Zithromax really worked. Although I closed the clinic this morning, I still have a few patients in...

Admitting Defeat
My cough turned green this morning and the fever returned. Had to get some proper antibiotics, and close the clinic for tomorrow. I waited until after the morning rush was over before setting off for my ward round. And even then, I was coughing away. Saw our family Doctor, who started me on antibiotics. Returned for the afternoon clinic and sorted out my paper works. Decided just to come in for...

It was Citeh'd
It was an emotional evening watching how the Premiership unfolded. When Rooney scored the goal, I didn’t think of anything much, as I was certain that Citeh would nick win against QPR. This was almost made certain with the stupid sending off of Barton. And then, against the odds, Rangers managed to get themselves ahead. Twice. There were almost half an hour more to go, and I started...

Wedding at Nilai
The first order of the day was to Nilai. My cousin, Shari, finally got hitched and we attended the reception there. We left as scheduled, at around 10.30 after my morning rounds, and reached the venue about an hour earlier, relatively early. After mingling around, and enjoying a splendid lunch - the food was actually very good - the happy couple arrived, in white. Quite rare these days to have...

The Eyebags Are Gone
After first Irfan, then Idlan, now Puan Anita and I started having sore throat. I had a bit of a temperature earlier today, which settled after some paracetamol. The sore throat is still bothering me though, and I suspect, it would be worst tomorrow morning when I wake up. Hopefully, I could muster some energy for our weekend break to A Famosa as the boys were really looking forward to it. As...

Sleepy Morning
I pressed on with starting my rounds early and left home almost after getting Idlan settled in after the trip to Casualty. After the rounds were done, I dropped by my favorite haunt in Bangsar for an early lunch. Anita said that Idlan was sleeping at home. No more coughing. The antihistamine certainly helped. The swelling on the face was much better as well. After lunch, I’ll probably...

I Look Chinese
Idlan woke up at 5 this morning coughing and sneezing, an couldn’t stop rubbing his eyes. He then suddenly screamed saying that his eyes won’t open. He jumped out of the bed, switched the lights on and was still screaming. From the cough, I can tell that his asthma was playing up. Irfan had been having sniffles for the last few days, and it won’t be such a surprise if Idlan...

Look at the Sun
The weather outside had been stunning this morning, and I’m stuck in clinic at the moment. But fret not, as I have just seen the last patient. I might be heading out for lunch with the weather this nice. Followed by a couple of hours at the apartment, since I have no clinic in the afternoon, plus paper works and discharges had already been sorted. I still needed to do the afternoon rounds...

What Traffic?
I thought it was only me complaining about how bad the traffic was this morning. It turned out that the whole of KL did the same. It had been raining since 3 am and some pa of KL were flooded. The flood also affected some of the main roads, causing bad congestion. I was tired last night, and went to bed rather early - earlier than I planned as United would be kicking off at 11. By 10, I could...

Me Monday Morning
It had been a hectic weekend, and after sorting out the patients this morning, I had a few hours on my own, interrupted by flurry of phone calls of course. The apartment needed cleaning as well. And so does the groceries needed topping up. So, morning coffee at Chawan, followed by a trip to the supermarket. My recipe for a nice Monday morning. Clinic to follow suit later in the afternoon, and...

Maybe Not This Year
So, it seems like the ribbon on the Premier League trophy this year would be blue in colour. And to be honest, they probably just about deserved it. United was hardly vintage this year, and the loss may actually gorse us to do something to galvanise the squad. We really could do with a fresh set of players, some established World class players rather than those with potential. At times, we...

Tandoori and Satay
Just finished the evening rounds, and as United would be playing tonight, I would have to ET some Tandoori and satay. Ordered. And I had the time to catch one admission in between. Next would be the drive home, and traffic on Sunday evening can be a bit of a pain, especially after a public holiday. Got my fingers crossed for the match tonight. We really needed Newcastle to do us a favour. Come...

To a Different Clinic
I finally made it back to the apartment at around 3.30 am after sorting out the admissions. I was more like a zombie when I woke up this morning. After sorting out the morning rounds, Anita told me that Irfan couldn’t sleep properly last night because of his coughing. Time to take him to the Doctors. Unfortunately, our family Doctor tended to take Sunday off, leaving his surgery manned...

The Final
I have a couple of admissions and transfer waiting for beds, and while waiting, it was the FA Cup Final on the TV. Chelsea was playing Liverpool. And I had the whole of the Doctor’s Lounge to myself, with its big 60 inch TV. Eight years ago, the final was played between Manchester United and Millwall. Puan Anita was in labour for Idlan then, but as she was on epidural, she was actually...
